Betty Cheptoek Kali has emerged victorious in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for the Kapchorwa District Woman Parliamentary seat.
Cheptoek secured 22,688 votes, defeating the incumbent MP, Phyllis Chemutai, who garnered 22,806 votes, making her the first runner-up.
Other contenders in the race—Susan Chemutai, Jalia Seiko Chikasire, and Juliet Baulah Cheboyeyin—all polled below 5,000 votes.
Cheptoek’s victory positions her as the NRM flag bearer for the 2026 general elections.
