Kadaga Storms NRM HQ Over Disputed Kamuli Poll Results.

First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga made a bold appearance Monday morning at the NRM Electoral Commission offices in Kampala, standing beside two visibly agitated parliamentary hopefuls from her home district of Kamuli.

The candidates from Bugabula North and Buzaya constituencies claim their votes were never tallied during last week’s party primaries for MP flagbearers.

Speaking to journalists outside the party headquarters, Kadaga said, “I am here in solidarity with the candidates and voters of Kamuli who feel disenfranchised.

We demand that the Electoral Commission accounts for every single vote cast.” She did not mince words as she accused local election officials of undermining internal party democracy by failing to count ballots from critical polling stations.

One of the candidates, Margaret Nabirye of Bugabula North, said she was leading at several polling centres, but her results were inexplicably excluded from the final declaration.

“We have proof from declaration forms signed by presiding officers. What happened to those figures?” she asked.

Accompanying her was Patrick Mwonda, a contender from Buzaya, who echoed similar concerns.

“Our people came out in large numbers to vote. It is a betrayal of their trust if those votes are simply ignored.”

The NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, briefly addressed the issue, stating that all grievances would be thoroughly investigated and any proven irregularities rectified.

“We will not allow manipulation of our internal democracy. If votes were not counted, there will be accountability,” he assured.

The protest, though peaceful, underscores rising tensions within the ruling party as competition for 2026 parliamentary slots intensifies.

Kadaga’s visible support has added political weight to the petition, signaling possible fractures in the party’s Eastern Uganda stronghold.
