Hon. Elias Nalukoola Appointed to Two Key Parliamentary Committees – Opera News Official
Kampala-Uganda. Hon. Elias Nalukoola, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, has been appointed to two parliamentary committees, the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, and the Committee on Human Rights.
His appointment is in line with the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, which guide the selection of MPs to committees based on party representation and the guidance of party whips.
The Committee on Environment and Natural Resources handles matters related to energy, water, minerals, petroleum, and environmental protection. It reviews policies and programmes in these sectors and ensures responsible use of the country’s natural resources.
The Committee on Human Rights is responsible for monitoring government adherence to constitutional and international human rights obligations. It also receives reports from the Uganda Human Rights Commission and investigates concerns where rights may be affected.
Hon. Nalukoola’s selection to these committees gives him a role in contributing to national discussions on environmental sustainability and human rights.
