Kabaka Birthday Run: EAMV Strengthens Public Health Efforts with UGX 10M Donation to Buganda Kingdom
Mengo, Uganda – East African Medical Vitals (EAMV) has contributed UGX 10 million to support the Buganda Kingdom’s efforts in combating HIV/AIDS, strengthening the impact of the upcoming Kabaka Birthday Run 2025.

The donation was handed over at Bulange, Mengo, in a ceremony attended by Mr. Ben Kavuya, Chairman of EAMV, and Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda. The contribution is expected to support the event’s efforts in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting HIV testing and treatment services across the country.

“As a responsible corporate entity, we are more than happy to support health-related initiatives,” said Mr. Kavuya. “The Buganda Kingdom has been championing a noble cause that affects everyone in our community.”

The Kabaka Birthday Run has become one of Uganda’s most prominent public health campaigns, drawing thousands of participants annually. The event serves as a platform for advocacy and education, focusing on the fight against diseases such as HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, and fistula.

Uganda continues to face significant hurdles in curbing HIV/AIDS, despite notable progress in recent years. According to UNAIDS, the country has made strides in reducing infection rates, but challenges remain, particularly in rural and marginalized communities. Events such as the Kabaka Birthday Run play a crucial role in raising awareness and encouraging proactive health measures.

Dr. Joseph Kigozi, a local health expert, welcomed EAMV’s support, highlighting the need for continued corporate involvement in public health initiatives. “Private sector involvement is crucial in our continued fight against HIV/AIDS,” he said. “Contributions like these go beyond financial support—they help break down barriers, challenge stigma, and bring critical resources to communities that need them most.”

For EAMV, the donation aligns with its broader mission of improving healthcare access and outcomes in Uganda. As a leading medical consumables manufacturer in Sub-Saharan Africa, the company has consistently supported health-related initiatives, reinforcing the role of the private sector in national development.

With this latest contribution, EAMV joins a growing list of organizations partnering with the Buganda Kingdom to strengthen public health efforts.

As Uganda continues to push for an HIV-free generation, such collaborations remain key in ensuring that awareness, prevention, and treatment efforts reach those who need them most.
