Herbert the assistant commissioner from ministry of energy and mineral development , has highlighted the role of government interventions and investment financing in accelerating the adoption of clean cooking technologies.

“We must put carbon revenue at the forefront while also making affordable alternatives for cooking accessible to the public. Unlocking investment and financing will ensure sustainability in the sector,” he stated.

The Uganda National Alliance on Clean Cooking (UNACC) has been at the center of efforts to improve product quality and accessibility in the clean cooking industry. Jimmy Ssebadduka , the chairperson of UNACC, has emphasized the importance of financial contributions from members to sustain the alliance’s initiatives.

“Members must commit to paying a fee that will enable them to gain market access for their products. This also helps in ensuring the growth and sustainability of the clean cooking sector,” Ssebadduka noted.
He further revealed that 40 members have so far subscribed, with their contributions helping to sustain the alliance’s activities.

“The funds raised from our members, along with support from stakeholders like GIZ, and the national renewable energy platform have played a crucial role in advancing clean cooking initiatives in Uganda,”

With continued stakeholder collaboration, industry leaders are optimistic that Uganda’s clean cooking sector will experience significant growth, providing more households with affordable and sustainable energy solutions.
