Gundogan set to extend stay at Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola has revealed that experienced midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is likely to remain at Manchester City for another season, with a contract clause close to being activated.
The 34-year-old, who previously captained City, returned to the club on a short-term deal last summer following a season at Barcelona. His contract included an option for an additional year, which can be triggered based on his appearances.
Having featured 37 times in the 2024-25 campaign, Gundogan is close to meeting the required number of games for an automatic extension. Guardiola confirmed the situation, stating, “I think so,” when asked about the likelihood of the clause being fulfilled.
