US plane with 10 on board goes missing over Alaska, search operations on
A Bering Air Flight with 10 people on board reportedly went missing near Alaska’s Nome late Thursday afternoon.
The Nome-bound plane took off from the Alaskan town of Unalakleet at 2:37 pm local time on late Thursday afternoon, 39 minutes before it disappeared from radar, according to data from flight tracking website FlightRadar.
The plane, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft, was carrying ten passengers, including a pilot. Search operations are underway, news agency Reuters quoted Alaska’s Department of Public Safety as saying.
Meanwhile, the air search has been suspended due to inclement weather and poor visibility.
The Nome volunteer department added that the Coast Guard is scanning the area for any clues. The fire department also said that ground staff have combed the area from Nome to Topkok
