The Rt Hon. Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among is representing H.E. the President at the 26th Annual Judges’ Conference, held under the theme: “Positioning Uganda’s Judiciary to Contribute to Social and Economic Development.”
The Rt. Hon. Speaker, who represented the President, was received by the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, Justice Richard Buteera (Deputy Chief Justice), Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija (Principal Judge), Justice Mike Chibita (Justice Supreme Court and Chairperson Judicial Training Institute Governing Council), Lady Justice Damalie N Lwanga (Executive Director Judicial Training Institute), Dr. Pius Bigirimana (Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary) and HW Sarah Langa Siu (Chief Registrar), among others. The Conference is being held under the theme *”Positioning Uganda’s Judiciary to Contribute to Social and Economic Development,”* and it aims to enable Justices and Judges execute the Judiciary’s constitutional mandate better while aligning it with Uganda’s socio-economic transformation priorities. During the Conference, participants reflected on the Judiciary’s performance in the Calendar year of 2024, highlighting achievements and challenges, shared best practices, and learnt from other justice actors on the Judiciary’s role in socio-economic development. Participants also discussed innovations, challenges in access to justice, and ways to improve justice delivery. The Director of Programmes is the Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, assisted by the HW Ereemye Jumire James Mawanda, the Judiciary Public Relations Officer.
At the end of Tuesday,Coach Bob Sebuggwawo talked to the judicial officers the reasons on why they need to be fit to avoid a number of deadly diseases such as high blood pressure.
