A 15-year-old Dutch hitman has been seriously injured after a gun attack on a Chechen mafia leader in Hamburg.

Two people were injured during the shooting at a Turkish restaurant on January 12 that was reportedly launched by the masked hitman from the Netherlands.

The target, a 49-year-old man, is believed to be a high-ranking member of the Chechen mafia, according to various German media.

The teenager fired several bullets at his target before he fled to a nearby restaurant where he was also shot and beaten by three men.

The Dutch teenager, identified only as Mike F was arrested by German police alongside three other men.

The justice department confirmed to De Telegraaf on Monday that the teenager is from the Netherlands.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, his injuries are “not life-threatening”.

However, De Telegraaf reports that due to privacy rights of the suspect who is a minor, and in order not to jeopardise the police investigation, authorities will not make any further statements.

The news site reports that the suspect is believed to have gone into a toilet in a Turkish bakery near the Steindamm area close to the city’s Red Light district.

“Wearing a mask, he then stormed towards the alleged gangster boss Rizvan A,” De Telegraaf reported. “After two shots to his legs, F fled.”

CCTV footage from a nearby Italian restaurant apparently shows the terrified gunman hiding among stunned diners.

Six people are said to have followed him out on the street and opened fire. He is then found in the restaurant where he was assaulted and shot in the legs.

Rizvan A and two other men, aged 32 and 52, were arrested shortly afterwards, alongside the would-be assassin.

The mayor of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher, expressed concern in an interview with De Telegraaf regarding young boys from the Netherlands who are also being arrested in the port of Hamburg where drugs are shipped in containers.

Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser recently visited an international task force on cross-border crime where the issue was raised.

The German police chief told De Telegraaf that he had arrested many Dutch criminals in the past and described their behaviour in public spaces during chases as “reckless”.
