Former MP Margaret Komuhangi Dies At 54
Former Nakasongola District Woman MP Margaret Komuhangi has passed away in India, sources close to the former legislator have said.
The 54-year-old member of the ruling National Resistance Movement had been hospitalised.
Ms Komuhangi, who served as Chairperson of the Committee on Gender during her tenure in the Tenth Parliament, was known for her dedication to advancing gender equality and social development.
Ms Komuhangi in 2002 saw her 2001 election annulled by the High Court after Grace Tubwita Bagaya petitioned, with the Court of Appeal upholding the lower court decision.
In 2021, she easily claimed the party flag for the District Woman Representative but she was no match for Victorious Zawedde in the January 2021 race to the Eleventh Parliament.
