BobiWine replaces Mpuuga with Muwanga Kivumbi as NUP deputy president for Buganda
The National Unity Platform (NUP) has named Butambala County MP, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi as the new deputy party president for Buganda region.
The Chairperson of the Buganda Caucus in Parliament replaces Nyendo – Mukungwe MP, Mathias Mpuuga who was suspended by the party president, Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, last year following the controversial Shs500 million service award he received during his time as Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP).
Mr Kivumbi was unveiled today at the party headquarters in Makerere, Kavule alongside Ms JJacqueline Tukamushaba who replaces the late Jolly Mugisha as deputy president for Western Uganda.
Mr Kivumbi during his first address as deputy president Buganda Region said his role is to mentor young people to see that the plan to remove the dictator is at play.
“As a deputy president of Buganda, I will reach where Kyagulanyi can’t reach and I will be where he can’t be,” Mr Kivumbi said.
Harriet Ageno takes over as Secretary for Policy, succeeding the late Toret Akecha, while Benjamin Katana has been named the NUP representative on the National Consultative Forum.
The NUP Secretary General, Mr Lewis Rubongoya said all the appointees will hold their positions in an acting capacity until June 2025 when the party intends to hold the delegates conference. DAILY MONITOR
