Parliament on Thursday afternoon held a moment of silence after receiving information of the demise of both Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya and former Koboko district woman MP Margret Babadiri.
Ssegirinya’s death has been confirmed by the management of Rubaga Hospital where he has been under medical treatment for a long period of time.
Following his death, the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among announced to parliament that there will be a special sitting tomorrow (Friday) to honor the late Ssegirinya for his contribution to the country as a member of parliament representing Kawempe North constituency.
Late Ssegirinya born in 1988, served as Lord councilor in Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA from 2016-2021 and later elevated to the seat of MP Kawempe North in 2021 elections.
His death remains uncertain as we wait for a medical report from medics.
Similarly, MP Babadiri has been announced dead as she was being rushed to the hospital.
She served in parliament from 1999 till 2021.
