Football legend Quah Kim Song and WP chairwoman Sylvia Lim tie the knot.

Workers’ Party (WP) chairwoman Sylvia Lim and former national footballer Quah Kim Song announced their marriage on Jan 4 on social media.

Ms Lim posted a black-and-white picture of her and Mr Quah walking hand in hand down a corridor at the St Mary of the Angels church in Bukit Batok with the caption: “For richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health.”

By 9pm on Jan 4, the post had garnered over 3,000 likes, with hundreds of followers congratulating the couple.

The couple have been dating for almost 12 years and they reportedly first met at a WP charity concert in 2013. The wedding was announced in October 2024, and Mr Quah later confirmed in an interview that the couple would solemnise their marriage in January.

Mr Quah, 72, was a star striker in the 1970s.

Nicknamed Quicksilver Quah, he famously scored twice – including a diving-header winner off a Dollah Kassim free kick – to help Singapore beat Penang 3-2 in the 1977 Malaysia Cup final.

Ms Lim, 59, has held the post of WP chairwoman since 2003 and was part of the first opposition team to win a Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in 2011 and has since been a member of parliament for Aljunied GRC.
