The three-year-old boy was on his first trip abroad to celebrate Christmas with his father and mother. Kang Ko worked in public relations for the Kia Tigers baseball team. On Instagram, Kang Ko shared a photo of his son along with the caption, “My son is going abroad for the first time on a night flight, and his first passport has no stamp!”

Kang Ko also documented sightseeing at a Thai palace and a photo of his son looking out of the plane window during their flight to Bangkok.

Sports broadcaster Jung Woo-young wrote in a tribute to Kang Ko, “He was so good at his job that everyone on our company’s baseball broadcasting team liked him. We waited until the end for news of a miraculous return, but with the news of the deaths of everyone except the rescuers, even our last hope disappeared. In the end, he never returned. Not even his family.”

Of the 181 people onboard, only two flight attendants survived the plane crash. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
