In his Christmas Message, the Uganda Orthodox Church Metropolitan of Kampala, Archbishop Jeronymos Muzeyi, issued a powerful message of love and renewal to the Orthodox Christian community across Uganda and around the world. Reflecting on the words from the Book of Revelation, “Behold, all things are made new by love” (Rev. 21:5), the Archbishop emphasized the transformative power of God’s love, as embodied in the birth of Jesus Christ.
“We gather worldwide to celebrate the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate love of God,” Archbishop Muzeyi proclaimed. “This sacred event is a reminder of God’s boundless love for humanity, a love that seeks to renew all things, especially in a world plagued by suffering.”
Drawing upon the writings of St. Paul and the teachings of Orthodox theologian Kallistos Ware, the Archbishop addressed the deep challenges facing humanity. He highlighted that despite a world where “it is easy to do evil and hard to do good,” God’s love shines forth, offering the hope of salvation and the restoration of the divine union between humanity and God.
Archbishop Muzeyi reminded Christians of their calling to perfection and love, quoting the words of Christ in the Gospel of Matthew: “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt. 5:48). He urged the faithful to embody this divine love, which liberates believers from the corruption of the world and empowers them to do good, bless others, and even love their enemies.
“Christ is born for us!” the Archbishop declared, urging the faithful to allow the love of Christ to transform their lives and renew the world. He called on all Christians to live lives that reflect this divine love, leaving no room for enmity and instead fostering communion with God and all people.
