Ukrainian Forces thwart Russian sabotage attempt in Pokrovsk
In a swift and decisive action, Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully neutralized a group of Russian saboteurs “before they could do anything.” The incident took place in the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region on December 12, according to reports circulating on social media. A Ukrainian Armed Forces lieutenant, known by the callsign “Alex,” later confirmed these reports.
“Today’s information about the sabotage unit in Pokrovsk has been confirmed, and the group has been neutralized—6 dead (code ‘200’),” Alex reported. “While it’s unsurprising that both sides send sabotage and reconnaissance groups behind enemy lines past the front line, the fact that they made it into the city outskirts indicates certain defense issues,” he added. Nevertheless, the Defense Forces identified and quickly neutralized these Russian combatants “before they could accomplish anything.”
Earlier, Alex had also noted attempts by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to infiltrate the southern outskirts of Pokrovsk, attributing this to the city’s proximity to the active combat zone.
This follows recent reports from December 10, when Russian propagandists claimed a potential breakthrough into Ukraine’s Sumy region by Russian forces, alleging enemy saboteurs had entered Ukrainian territory. The reports were later dismissed by the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service.
Similarly, on November 15, Russia claimed to have effortlessly entered the Chernihiv region, reportedly planting flags in several settlements. However, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service noted that the saboteurs did not cross a crucial bridge where these flags were allegedly placed.
