Tottenham under investigation for fans’ behaviour
WHAT HAPPENED?
Chelsea came back from a two-goal deficit to win 4-3 after a Cole Palmer brace and one goal each from Jadon Sancho and Enzo Fernandez. As Enzo Maresca’s side trailed in the first-half, Tottenham Hotspur fans launched a number of projectiles at Palmer, Enzo, Sancho and Pedro Neto. The objects were thrown multiple times from the South Stand — an area only home fans occupy.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Football Association (FA) have now launched an investigation into the incidents at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and will now review referee Anthony Taylor’s report on the match and investigate.
DID YOU KNOW?
The barrage from the Spurs fans was constant through the first half, and as Chelsea received a corner near the South Stand, Palmer was cool as ever as he cleaned off the littered corner of the field, picked up the ball and stood there. This situation then smoothed over before play was resumed.
WHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?
As per The Mirror, the incidents caused by Tottenham Hotspur fans could end up with the Lilywhites being charged and potentially fined by the FA.
