The Uganda swim team has safely arrived at Hosea Kutako International Airport in Namibia ahead of the 20th Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming and Open Water Championships scheduled to take place in Windhoek from December 4 to 8, 2024.
The team, led by captain Heer Usadadiya, comprises seven swimmers determined to make a mark in the prestigious regional competition.
They will compete in various individual swimming events as well as the Open Water Championship, showcasing Uganda’s growing prowess in aquatics.
Upon arrival, the team expressed enthusiasm and readiness for the event, which will see them compete against some of the best talent from across Africa.
Speaking to the media, Captain Heer Usadadiya said:
“We are excited to represent Uganda on this platform and are confident in our preparations. This is an opportunity to prove ourselves and achieve personal and national milestones.”
The team’s participation in this championship is a significant step in Uganda’s development in aquatic sports, and they carry the hopes of a nation eager to see their swimmers excel on the international stage.
Uganda will face stiff competition, but the swimmers are determined to build on their experiences and personal bests from previous tournaments.
Supporters back home remain optimistic and wish the team success as they prepare to dive into action in Windhoek.
