BREAKING: Secret Police, DSS Arrests Take-It-Back Organiser In Kano Over Suspected Facebook Post.

TIB, which raised the alarm in a post on its social media handle, said that Zubair was arrested in the early hours of Thursday (today) by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Pro-democracy group, the Take-It-Back Movement (TIB), has raised the alarm over the arrest of its organiser in Kano State, simply identified as Zubair.

TIB, which raised the alarm in a post on its social media handle, said that Zubair was arrested in the early hours of Thursday (today) by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to the organization, reason(s) for Zubair’s arrest remains unknown, but TIB noted that sources said his arrest might be connected with a Facebook post he made where he was said to have been critical about the government.

TIB, which said that Zubair is being moved to Abuja, demanded his immediate and unconditional release from the DSS custody.

The organisation said, “TIB organiser in Kano, Zubair was arrested by the DSS earlier today. The reason for his arrest remains unknown.

“But sources informed it was connected with a Facebook post which had been critical of the government, and the activist is being moved to Abuja.

“We demand his immediate and unconditional release now!”

There have been persistent and widespread clampdown on dissent voices in Nigeria by political office holders at the local, state and federal government levels.

The current President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government has been characterised by haunting of activists, media and individuals who dare to criticise the government at any level.

Most worrisome is the fact that security agencies and agents have become the easiest tools in the hands of the oppressors.

Some Nigerians are still detention and are being prosecuted by the Nigerian government for participating in the August 1-10, 2024 nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.
