Norway arrests U.S. embassy security guard on suspicion of spying for Russia and Iran
On Thursday, November 21, Norwegian police arrested a security guard working at the U.S. embassy in Oslo on suspicion of espionage on behalf of Russia and Iran. According to Reuters, local officials said they confiscated a “large” amount of digital material.
The suspect, a man in his 20s, is cooperating with the authorities. “It is unclear whether he has had secret information that would mean that anti-espionage laws could be used against him,” the suspect’s lawyer told journalists.
