The Opposition in Parliament has vowed to put up a spirited fight today during the coffee bill debate that seeks to rationalize Uganda Coffee Development Authority-UCDA to the MAAIF.
This comes as parliament resumes tomorrow at 10 am with the debate on the coffee bill for the second and third readings.
Speaking to Journalists at parliament immediately after the opposition caucus, LOP Joel Ssenyonyi says that as the opposition they are ready to defend the economic empowerment of Ugandans and there’s no justifiable intimidation that will stop them tomorrow.
LOP Ssenyonyi has also  stated that the opposition is ready for any consequences, having learned of the government’s plot to deploy security at parliament tomorrow during the coffee debate.
They have also appealed to Ugandans to join the liberation of coffee and not leave it to MPs alone.
Ssenyonyi has also warned the Executive to stop dictating how parliament should be operated.
This follows information that President Museveni directed all NRM MPs to support the merger of UCDA with MAAIF and also promised to crush any leader who tries to challenge the rationalization of UCDA.
LOP Ssenyonyi has also retaliated his stand that coffee is not only for Buganda as a region as portrayed by opportunists but for all Ugandans and non-partisan.
Similarly, LOP Ssenyonyi has challenged Museveni to walk the talk of cutting government expenditures by reducing cabinet ministers, RDCs, merging UNRA, URA, and KCCA, and also stopping creating new administrative units.
