Friday 1, November 2024 – Kampala, Uganda: MTN Uganda has announced significant updates to its WakaNet Home broadband service, including new pricing, better value offerings, additional products and enhanced after-sales support under its “Welcome Home” drive. These updates align with MTN’s Ambition 2025, a vision that aims to provide access to high-quality digital services to everyone, regardless of their location or usage requirements. Through WakaNet, MTN continues to improve the home internet experience across Uganda, offering reliable, high-speed internet tailored to meet the diverse needs of its customers.
Launched in 2020, WakaNet has become a trusted broadband solution for thousands of households across Uganda. The service offers customers access to high-speed internet through fiber-optic connections, 5G and 4G routers and MiFi devices, ensuring fast and reliable connectivity. The new changes are aimed at strengthening WakaNet’s position in the market by offering even more competitive pricing and advanced service options.
MTN has increased the speed of its Wakanet Fiber and Business Internet Fiber packages by upto 6 times with the entry package bumped up from 10Mbps to 60Mbps at the same competitive price of UGX 130,000 monthly. Customers with heavier needs can now enjoy packages offering 100Mbps, 200Mbps and a top-tier package offering 500Mbps – a first of its class in Uganda. In addition, all fiber packages offer unlimited data, with no usage caps.
For customers outside fiber coverage, MTN has made reliable high-speed internet access available by making the 5G router available for FREE upon purchase of a 5G package starting at UGX 130,000 monthly. The 5G router also now comes packaged with battery backup to enable customers remain connected in case of power outage.
To make high-speed internet more affordable and accessible to all Ugandans, 4G routers have seen a price cut from UGX 130,000 to UGX 99,000, with affordable data packages starting at UGX 55,000 monthly. Customers can now also access the WakaNet MiFi at a reduced price of UGX 50,000 down from UGX 75,000 and receive 5GB free on sign-up. MTN has also introduced Gaga bundles for MiFi devices, catering to the growing demand for flexible and affordable data options.
With the superior internet connectivity solutions offered by Wakanet, customers will now be able to enhance the security of their homes with security cameras availed by MTN. The security cameras, available for both indoor and outdoor use, provide a comprehensive security solution that integrates seamlessly with WakaNet, allowing customers to monitor their homes remotely in real-time.
All MTN Wakanet customers have access to dedicated support channels, including a toll-free number (125), WhatsApp support (0772122100), and email (wakanet.ug@mtn.com) to resolve inquiries. Customers can use the MyMTNApp or dial *100*23# to renew their subscription.
