The commissioner of parliament also MP Nyendo Mukugwe Mathias Mpuuga has requested government to drop the coffee amendment bill which allows the merger of UCDA with MAAIF.
Mpuuga argues that President Museveni should read the attitude of Ugandans towards the bill before assenting to it.
He also opposed the report of the parliamentary Agricultural committee which recommended the merger of UCDA with MAAIF saying the committee never exhusted all the stake holders in the coffee sector apart from meeting MAAIF and UCDA.
Mpuuga has also appealed to his fellow legislators not to tribalize the coffee sector as it had been portrayed in last week’s debate session in parliament that led to the passing of the coffee amendment bill.
Similarly a section of MPs from western Uganda have announced a regional sensitization of farmers and other coffee stakeholders in all parts of western Uganda.
These included: Buhweju county MP Francis Mwijukye, woman MP Hoima City Asinansi Nyakato and Igara west MP Mbwatekamwa Gaffa.
They questioned government why the hurry in passing of the coffee amendment bill that merges UCDA with MAAIF.
