Arsenal eye move for ex-Man City star as Barcelona open to selling forward in January transfer window

Torres has been pushed down the pecking order at Barcelona, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha both shining alongside Robert Lewandowski in attack. According to Sport, his situation has sparked interest from Arsenal, with the Gunners potentially trying to make a move happen in January.

Barcelona are reportedly open to selling Torres when the January transfer window opens, although the player is keen to stay and prove himself under Hansi Flick. Yet he’s made just five starts in La Liga this season and is increasingly finding himself part of the rotation, instead of in the starting line-up. The 24-year-old’s contract runs until 2027.

Arsenal may face competition for Torres’ signature. Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is also a fan of the Spain international and could try to lure him to Villa Park as he attempts to build a squad that routinely qualifies for the Champions League.

The former Manchester City winger will hope to be involved when Barcelona take on Real Madrid in the first Clasico of the season on Saturday evening.
