Fire outbreak in Kamwokya this morning has left one dead and many homeless
Kampala Metropolitan Police have confirmed a devastating fire incident in Kisenyi 2 Zone, Kamwokya 2 Parish, Central Division, Kampala, which tragically claimed the life of one child
The fire broke out around 1:49am, engulfing several makeshift structures built from timber and iron sheets and causing complete destruction of property in the area.
Emergency teams from Kampala Metropolitan Police, the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services, and the Uganda Red Cross quickly arrived at the scene to control the flames.
Despite their rapid response, Catherine, daughter of Mr. Bashisha Ronald, was found dead at the site. Her body has since been transported to Mulago City Mortuary for further examination.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway, with authorities thoroughly inspecting the site to ensure there are no additional casualties.
