Liam Payne told hotel guest they could ‘cuddle in lift’ shortly before tragic death
Former One Direction star Liam Payne reportedly told a hotel guest they could cuddle not long before he fell to his death.
The tragic incident stunned the world after it was confirmed the 31-year-old had died in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Now, as more details continue to be released, it’s claimed he had asked a fan for a “cuddle”.
One fan at the hotel claims to have had a 30 minute conversation with the former boyband member. She took snaps of the star at 4.26pm local time – 8.26pm UK time.
The photos were taken less than an hour before Liam was confirmed to have died, with an ambulance arriving on scene at 5.11pm.

ÂSpeaking to Mail Online, a fan who is being called Rebecca (not her real name) said a pal of hers was supposed to be getting the star’s suite, but he hadn’t checked out. She described hotel staff as being “a little on edge” with the situation and Liam’s behaviour.
She claimed he seemed to want people to recognise him, but her friendship group weren’t that bothered. She said: “When the lift came he suddenly said to us without any prompting: ‘Yes, I’m Liam!’ really drawing it out, and then said ‘All right come on you lot, get in the elevator with me, I love a cuddle’.”
Rebecca said she decided against accepting his request and instead waited for the next lift. Some of the other girls, however, are said to have got in the lift and spoke about being American with him.
She claimed Liam had grabbed a girl who she thought was with him and pretended to fake choke her lightly. “The others thought it was really disturbing.” she said.
She went on to say she returned to the lobby around 10 minutes later, shortly followed by Liam. She said he had been reading emails on a settee. “Then he opened his emails and saw one which obviously upset him,” she added. “Suddenly he took the computer, shouted ‘f*** this s*** mate!’ and started bashing the computer on the ground.”
His reaction is send to have shocked staff and guests. Rebecca said she went over to him to ask if he was alright and he replied: “I used to be in a boyband. That’s why I’m so f****d up.'”
In an official statement given to The Associated Press, police authorities said Liam “jumped from the balcony of his room,” seemingly dispelling any notions of an accidental fall or foul play. A preliminary autopsy indicated he died from “multiple traumas” leading to “internal and external bleeding” following the fall.
On Thursday night, his One Direction bandmates paid tribute to their “brother” in a heartbreaking post. In the statement, they said they are all “devastated”.
The words, which were signed “Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry”, read: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.
“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”
