Iraq today announced three days of mourning after Israel killed Hezbollah’s General-Secretary Hassan Nasrallah.

The office of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani made the announcement after the Lebanese group confirmed that Nasrallah had been killed late yesterday in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The Israeli occupation army said earlier today that it had targeted Nasrallah and other leaders in air strikes on Beirut. Army spokesman Avichay Adraee said that the army “eliminated Nasrallah, and the official, Ali Karaki, the commander of Hezbollah’s southern front, and a number of other leaders.” He added: “The air force planes, with precise intelligence guidance from the security establishment’s intelligence service, raided Hezbollah’s central headquarters located underground under a residential building in the southern suburb area.”

“The raid was carried out while Hezbollah’s leadership was inside the headquarters.”

Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi warned: “This is not the last thing we have in store.”

“The message is simple: Anyone who threatens the citizens of Israel, we will know how to get to them.”

Israel launched its largest bombing campaign on Lebanon in almost 20 years on Monday killing more than 700 people and injuring thousands.
