Drones attacked an ammunition depot in the Volgograd region

Strike drones attacked an ammunition depot in the Volgograd region of Russia.

Russian media reported on the attack.

According to locals, the attacked facility in the village of Kotluban was an ammunition depot that had been in active use since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

So far, Russian official sources have not commented on the situation, but according to local authorities, the fire and detonation of explosive materials began after the wreckage fell.

According to the Russian side, the territory of the Russian Federation was attacked by 200 drones, of which 125 were destroyed overnight.

Of these, 67 drones were intercepted and destroyed over the territory of the Volgograd region, 18 over the Rostov region, and 17 over the Belgorod and Voronezh regions.

Despite the large number of intercepted drones reported by the Russian authorities, most were able to reach strategically important Russian facilities.

NASA’s FIRMS service, which records forest fires around the planet and places with a high thermal signature, also confirms that the ammunition depot in the village of Kotluban was hit.

The ammunition depot, located at coordinates 48.996967, 44.213703, stores artillery ammunition and missiles for multiple-launch rocket systems.

According to some sources, this warehouse could have been used to store Iranian ballistic missiles and launchers for them.

It should be noted that the depot is located 300 kilometers from the border with Ukraine and was one of the priority targets, as it was used by the enemy to store ammunition, which was then sent to Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine.
