After a goalless first half, Jonam came out firing in the second half, with Samuel Pirwoth delivering a stellar performance. Pirwoth found the back of the net twice, securing the crucial win for his side. Reflecting on his match-winning display, Pirwoth said, “I’m optimistic and well-prepared. We’re determined to outplay the defending champions, Padyere, in our next game.” Jonam will face Padyere at home on Wednesday, 25th September, at Bar Omach.

The Ker Alur Kopu P’Ubimo competition serves as more than just a football tournament. The event, in partnership with Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Uganda, includes bicycle races and aims to bring together the youth of Alur. The 7th edition aligns with the 14th coronation anniversary of His Majesty Phillips Ularker Rauni III and promotes a key theme of “Positive Parenting in Ending Child Marriages and Teenage Pregnancy,” with a focus on keeping girls in school for a brighter future.

The focus is not just on sports, but also on promoting our culture and encouraging positive behavior among our youth.”

Jonam’s head coach, Peter Simon, echoed these sentiments, adding, “These competitions must build a strong bond among the players and within the kingdom, with the goal of promoting talent through sporting activities.” Jonam’s victory sets the stage for their next encounter with defending champions Padyere, as they aim to extend their winning run.
