A Ukrainian drone successfully intercepted and destroyed a Russian ZALA Lancet loitering munition over the Russian-controlled city of Sudzha in the Kursk region, according to footage released by Ukrainian activist Serhiy Sternenko.
The video, shared online, shows the moment a Ukrainian Defense Forces drone overtook the Russian drone, known popularly as the “suicide drone,” neutralizing the aerial threat.
The Lancet loitering munition designed for striking ground equipment and critical targets behind enemy lines, has been increasingly deployed by Russian forces throughout the war in Ukraine. However, Ukrainian air defense units have adapted to these threats by deploying FPV (First Person View) drones, a mobile and cost-effective countermeasure.
Ukrainian forces have increasingly relied on advanced drone technologies to combat Russian UAVs, with FPV drones proving to be a practical solution for intercepting a wide range of aerial threats. These drones allow operators to manually guide the intercepting drone with precision, offering a new layer of defense against enemy unmanned systems.
