2024 FEASSSA Games: Uganda wins fourth overall regional trophy in a row

Uganda won their fourth overall regional trophy in a row at the 21st Edition of the Federation of East Africa School Sports Associations (FEASSSA) games.

The games were concluded in style in the presence of the International Schools Sports Federation (ISF) President Laurent Petrynka on Monday.

Uganda Managed to bag 13 Gold medals, one more than Kenya who finished at 11.

Amus College Stadium was the place to be as the day kicked off with Football at the helm as fans from the different Schools flocked the stadium to witness a historical final.

Amus College School went on to apply their revenge with a 1-0 win against St Mary’s School Kitende (SMASK).

AbdulRazak Muzamir was the man of the day as he scored Amus’ only goal of the day to secure their 2024 FEASSSA Boys Football title.

In the third place play off, Musingu Secondary School won bronze, after edging co-hosts Bukedea Comprehensive School 3-2.

Girls football showcased tight margins as St Noa edged Butere Girls High School 1-0 thanks to a Sylvia Kabene well taken penalty at the Bukedea football pitch.

St Noa were also champions in the 3*3 and 5*5 girls basketball finals as they beat Rwanda’s GS Marie Reine Rwaza 81-49. in the final.

For the boys side, Kamusinga (Kenya) edged Seroma Christian High School 14-13 in the 3*3 basketball boys final while Amus College bagged the gold in the 5*5 after hammering Kenya’s Laiser Hill Academy 54-51.

In Netball, Uganda was in the driving seat with all the top four teams coming from the Pearl of Africa St Mary’s School Kitende leading from the top, followed by Kawanda SS who they beat in the final (51-49) not forgotting St Noa girls and Buddo SS who both lost as the semifinal stage.

For Handball, Kibuli SS which was lead by its Captain Aber Priscilla managed to clinch Gold in the Girls category after beating Gombe SS 32-25 in the final while in the boys, Rwanda through Adegi School managed to bag Gold after edging Uganda’s Wampeewo Ntake.

Ugandan teams Mbogo Mixed Secondary School and Kibuli Secondary School won the FEASSA Games Table Tennis Boys and Girls.

For Badminton it was vice versa, as Mbogo Mixed clinched the girls Gold and Kibuli SS for the boys.

While in the Boys hockey It was are all Kenyan affair in the final as Musingu Secondary School beat St Charles SS 2-0 in the final played today at Mbale School of Hygiene

For the Rugby 7’s Kenya’s Vihiga High thrashed their compatriots Bwake Boys 26-0 to clinch Gold while St Joseph’s High School fellow Kenyan side beat Kinale High School 8-5 to win the girls 7s.

In the boys 15’s All Saints Embu from Kenya over powered Uganda’s St Mary’s College Kisubi 9-3 to bag the gold.

Kesogon Girls from Kenyan were the Volleyball Champions after a 3-0 win over Kwanthanze Girls in an all Kenyan Ladies Final.

During the closuring ceremony Justus Mugisha, FEASSA President praised the facilities in the host schools;

FEASSSA and USSSA President, Justus Mugisha.

“This year’s edition was a very special one! The athletes played on first class facilities in schools,  that were built to host the 21st edition of the FEASSA Games.” he said

“Uganda has set the bar very high in as far as hosting these games, therefore Kenya (22nd edition hosts) have a huge task to push it even higher.” Mugisha concluded

Away from the Field side, happiness struck in some notable moments one of them being Amus College goalkeeper Usamah Chagamo tenderly carrying his mother after their 2-0 win over Bukedea Comprehensive in the semi-final.
