Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba has implemented a series of transfers and new appointments within the top ranks of the police force.
Among the most notable appointments is Commissioner of Police (CP) Polly Namaye, who, after completing a course, has been assigned to the Directorate of Operations as the CP of Peace Support Operations.
Another significant appointment includes CP Sarah Kibwika, previously with the Directorate of Human Resource Administration and Management, who has now been named Acting Deputy Director of Human Resource Administration and Management.
The full list of appointments, as announced by the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusoke Kituuma, is as follows:
- AIGP Joseph Mugisa has been moved from the Directorate of Fire Prevention & Rescue to the IGP’s office.
- SCP James Apora is appointed Acting Director of Logistics & Engineering.
- SCP Joseph Obwona is appointed Acting Director of Interpol & International Relations.
- SCP Stephen Tanui is appointed Acting Director of Fire Prevention & Rescue.
- SCP Elias Kassirabo, formerly of Human Resource Administration, is now an Attaché at the Uganda High Commission in Nairobi.
- SCP Yusuf Ssewanyana from the ICT Department is appointed Deputy Director of the Interpol Division.
- SCP Frankline Kugonza is transferred from the Directorate of Logistics & Engineering to the Directorate of Fire Prevention & Rescue as Deputy Director.
- CP Sarah Kibwika is appointed Acting Deputy Director of Human Resource Administration & Management.
- CP Proscovia Achola from Logistics & Engineering is appointed Acting Deputy Director of Force Fleet Management.
- CP Irene Ameri Kimara from Logistics & Engineering is appointed Acting Deputy Director of Logistics & Engineering.
- CP Simon Peter Okosh is transferred from Peace Support Operations to the Directorate of Operations as Acting Deputy Director of Operations.
- CP Philip Acaye, after completing a course, is appointed Acting Deputy Director of Traffic & Road Safety.
- CP Hillary Kulayige, having completed a course, is assigned to the Directorate of Chief Political Commissariat as Deputy Director.
- CP Moses Muluya is appointed Deputy Director of Welfare Production & Sports.
- CP Agaptus Ecotu is moved from the Directorate of Human Resource Administration & Management to the Field Force Unit as Deputy Operations Commander.
- CP Benedict Byamugisha, following a course, is appointed to Research and Planning & Development as CP Research & Development.
- CP Hassan Kihanda, after completing a course, is assigned to the Directorate of Fire Prevention & Rescue as CP for Fire Disaster, Training & Administrative Support Services.
- CP Rosemary Nanyonga, following a course, is appointed to the Agricultural Police as Deputy Commandant of the Livestock Sector.
- CP Michael Walwanga, after completing a course, is assigned to Interpol & International Relations as CP International Relations.
- CP James Kusemererwa, following a course, is appointed to the Directorate of Human Rights & Legal Services as CP International Relations.
- CP David Manzi, after completing a course, is named Commandant of VIPPU/VIS.
- CP Moses Otala Obbo, following a course, is appointed CP Welfare.
- CP Polly Namaye, after completing a course, is appointed to the Directorate of Operations as CP Peace Support Operations.
These strategic appointments and transfers are part of the ongoing effort to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force.
