Former Attorney General Prof. Kiddu Makubuya has passed away at the age of 75. According to reports, he died at Nakasero Hospital.
Prof. Makubuya was a highly respected academic and politician, holding a Doctor of Juridical Science from Yale Law School. He served as the Member of Parliament for Katikamu South constituency in Luwero District.
Born on July 30, 1949, Prof. Makubuya had a distinguished career in academia. He began his journey at Makerere University, where he worked as a special assistant at the Faculty of Law from 1974 to 1975. In 1979, he was promoted to lecturer and continued in that role until 1982, when he advanced to the position of senior lecturer. By 1984, he had risen to the rank of associate professor. Alongside his academic career, he was also a partner at the private law firm Kasolo & Khiddu Advocates.
Prof. Makubuya’s political career saw him serve in various capacities, including as Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister. He resigned from the cabinet on 16th February 2012.
