Nigerian billionaire Prince Arthur Eze has struck a deal to secure stakes in some big undeveloped gas fields offshore Venezuela, days after President Nicolas Maduro declared himself the winner of a vigorously disputed election.
Eze — through companies such as Oranto Petroleum and Atlas Petroleum — is very well-known in African circles for picking up exploration acreage on the continent over the past few decades, but has rarely, if ever, taken a discovery through to development.
This South American deal is believed to be the wealthy Nigerian’s first significant foray overseas.
