Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has announced that its REX MK II unmanned land vehicle system has been awarded the Best Scientific Solution at the European Land Robot Trial (ELROB).
The competition, organized by the German Armed Forces, featured challenging scenarios that pushed the limits of autonomous military technology.
The REX MK II, developed by IAI in partnership with Germany’s FFG, is a multi-mission unmanned land vehicle designed to support ground forces in the field while minimizing risks to human life. Capable of carrying up to 1.3 tons, the REX MK II provides vital logistical support, gathers intelligence, and facilitates command and control operations via a single operator using wireless communication.
The European Land Robot Trial (ELROB) is a prestigious event that brings together leading defense and robotics companies to showcase their latest developments in unmanned ground systems. Participants are tasked with navigating complex environments and completing a variety of military tasks designed by the German Armed Forces.
As noted by the company, the REX MK II stood out in the competition for its ability to support infantry ground forces, not only by carrying supplies and evacuating injured personnel but also by gathering crucial intelligence through its integrated electro-optical sensors and radar systems.
The joint venture between IAI and FFG, known as FTS, played a significant role in the vehicle’s success at the trial. Their collaboration highlights the growing trend of international partnerships in the defense industry, where expertise from different nations is combined to create cutting-edge solutions.
