The 25-year-old has joined from Vitória de Guimarães, signing a four-year deal which runs until the summer of 2028.
A versatile forward capable of playing anywhere across the front line, Jota arrives on the back of an impressive 2023/24 season which saw him score 15 goals and register seven assists in 42 games for Vitória across all competitions.
His form in front of goal caught the eye of Portugal boss Roberto Martínez, who gave Jota his senior international debut in a 5-2 win over Sweden in March.
Born in Melres, Jota came through the ranks at Sousense before working his way up the Portuguese pyramid.
After spells with Paços Ferreira, Espinho, Leixöes and Casa Pia, the forward made the step up to the Portuguese top-flight with Vitória in 2022, scoring 11 goals and adding six assists in 33 league appearances last season as the club finished fifth in the Primeira Liga.
Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson said: “We can see how excited Jota is to continue his career journey beyond Portugal where he has enjoyed such a strong period in the Primeira Liga with Vitoria Guimaraes, which resulted in him earning his debut for the Portuguese National Team back in March.”
