Morocco punched their ticket into the Paris 2024 Olympics Men’s Football quarterfinal as they defeated Iraq 3-0 at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening.
Morocco started off the match by putting loads of pressure on Iraq, coming very close to scoring in the earliest stages of the match. By the 18th minute, Amir Richardson’s header opened the scoring for the Atlas lions.
The leaders would score two more goals in the first half, with Soufiane Rahimi and Abde Ezzalzouli also getting their names on the scoresheet in the 28th and 36th minute respectively.
The Atlas Lions continued to dominate the match as they won by three goals in Paris, and topped Group B with six points thus qualifying for the knockout stages.
Argentina has also qualified from the same group, ahead of Ukraine and Iraq. Egypt and Spain will be involved as they powered through Group C.
The third African nation to be involved in the football tournament is Guinea, however they are at the bottom of Group A standings with no wins with one game left to play.
