Olympics 2024 LIVE! Simone Biles final; Andy Murray doubles; Carlos Alcaraz & Rafael Nadal; Nathan Hales gold

Team GB win gold on Tuesday before Andy Murray and Simone Biles take centre stage.

The 2024 Paris Olympics continue into day four as Team GB look to build on a sensational Monday in which they won six medals. Alex Yee, who won silver in Tokyo three years ago, was due up early in the men’s triathlon, but the event has been dominated by controversy due to pollution levels in the River Seine and has been postponed until Wednesday. There was better news for the Brits in the men’s trap final, as Nathan Hales smashed the Olympic record to take Team GB’s third gold of the Games.

Coco Gauff was a flag bearer for Team USA at the opening ceremony but her singles campaign is over at Roland Garros, after she was beaten in straight sets following a lengthy argument with the umpire. Britain’s Jack Draper also fell to a defeat. Later on in the day, Andy Murray and Dan Evans are in tennis doubles action as they look to reach the quarter-finals. Murray, set for retirement as soon as this tournament is over, staged an incredible comeback with Evans earlier this week to keep his career alive. Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal are in action in their second round doubles match.

Elsewhere on another busy day, Simone Biles and her USA teammates are looking for redemption in the women’s team gymnastics final. Tom Dean, James Guy, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott are also in relay action, while Anna Hopkin safely progressed into the women’s 100m freestyle semi-finals. Gymnastics

To the bars, Simone Biles up again. She’s on all four pieces of apparatus this evening.

And Biles absolutely nails it!

Massive roar around the arena, even bigger smile from Biles after that. Fair to say she’s pretty happy with that.

It’s 14.400 for Biles. Ridiculously good. Again.

Veeeeeeery nearly a fall from China on beam. Both hands down from Zhou Yaqin to keep herself up.

And now there is a fall, foot slips and Zhou does come off this time. This is a big shock.

Well, USA huge favourites for gold. After that… it’s now wide open!

Four apparatus in this women’s team final.

After the first of them, it’s the USA leading the way. No surprise there, led by Simone Biles nailing her vault.

China, Italy and Canada just behind. Great Britain down in seventh.

Here we go. Simone Biles on vault.

It’s her ‘easier’ vault, say the commentators. Easy not the first word that comes to my mind watching it.

Massive smile on her face, as she lands it with a slight hop.

A score of 14.900.

Canoeing

Job done for a couple of British athletes who will be eyeing medals.

Mallory Franklin is through to the women’s canoe semi-final, taking place tomorrow.

And Joe Clarke, despite a poor first run, has also progressed from his heat. Next in action on Thursday.

Good evening from La Défense.

I’ve just been up to the base of La Grande Arche (no translation necessary), from which you can see dead straight up the Champs-Elysees to the Arc De Triomphe, which is more than three miles away.

I’m told it was there when I last came here on Saturday evening but giving the pouring rain it was a little harder to make out.

Alcaraz and Nadal get the first break of what’s been a tight first set so far and they lead.

Not sure why but the Spaniards are wearing different kits. Nadal’s like some sort of retro Spain football kit.

They lead 4-3. Nadal to serve.
