THE CITY LOCKS SALON INTRODUCES MOBILE HAIR CUT SERVICES.

The City Locks Salon has introduced mobile hair cut ‘service’ for clients who desire having hair cut from their location. They have introduced the special booking for more extroverted and introverted clients. It has so far proven popular in Kampala and neighboring areas like Mukono, Wakiso, Entebbe etc.

A Ugandan barber is offering the perfect solution to his customers who would rather not make movements to the salon but make an appointment and receive the hair service from wherever they are.

He appears to be on to something, too, telling a local newspaper that there appears to be a gap in the market for the special booking option which has proved popular in the city most especially over weekends.

The barber says many people see getting a trim as a situation that requires social interaction, something that can be intimidating for introverts.
Many of his clients also work in loud environments – such as nurseries or building sites – and so like to escape to the Home salon service for some peace and quiet.

Others have large families at home and therefore costly to move them to the saloons.

Many of his clients call him  twice every two weeks. ‘and booking is made 2 days before since he always receive multiple bookings especially for evening time and weekends.

Through his salon’s online booking system, customers can opt in for a quiet visit in advance of their appointment.

‘A haircut you ought not to miss. Even when his customers have not explicitly said they want a quiet session, the barber says he is rarely the one to initiate conversation.

He says he takes other cues from his customers, as the wish for a silent haircut can be communicated through other means, such as the customer avoiding eye contact, scrolling through their phone, or reading a magazine.

‘It’s a security measure that he doesn’t get into the conversation,’ He adds.

Another bonus for his introverted clients is that He tends to work alone, and therefore her customers don’t even have to listen to other conversations. Instead, they can relax to the sound of the scissors and a background radio.

He does get some chatty customers, she says.

The barber says people often talk to him about anything from small talk to opening up about personal issues, such as relationships or life crises.

The barber considers himself to be a trusted person – someone who is there to listen when people need it, and even offer advice.

In another case, barber said some customer select the ‘silent service’ but then chat all away for the whole appointment.

The barber asked at the end of the hair cut whether it was a mistake on the booking form, to which the customer replied saying they thought the silent option only applied to barber himself.

‘We laughed at this together,’ he said.
