Three children who died in a house fire in east London have been named by by police as brothers Nakash Malik, 13 and Muhammad Hanan Malik, 7, and their sister, Aayat Malik, 11.
Paying tribute to them, their parents said in the statement they were “loved beyond words and missed beyond measure”.
The fire broke out in the family home in Napier Road, East Ham, just after 8.32am on 13 July.
Their parents, Khurram Malik and Naumana Gul Khan, said: “Your lives were a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. May you rest in peace in God’s heaven.”
Metropolitan Police officers continue to investigate the cause of the fire alongside London Fire Brigade colleagues. It is not believed to be suspicious.
On Sunday afternoon, several people, including a vicar and the local mayor, addressed members of the community who gathered outside the home in tribute.
In a statement, the Mayor of Newham, Rohksana Fiaz, said: “In the coming days, Newham Council staff will be working in partnership with the London Fire Brigade in the local community to offer support and advice to anyone in need.
“As we await the results of the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire, let us come together as a community to support one another and extend a helping hand to those in grief.”
London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Patrick Goulbourne said: “This is a terribly sad incident and the thoughts of all of us at London Fire Brigade are with the family, friends and all those affected at this difficult time.”
Around 40 firefighters attended the fire and have been offered support from the LFB’s counselling and trauma service.
