Simon Peter Aleper, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for the Karamoja sub-region, died Tuesday following a fatal accident along the Iganga-Tirinyi Highway.

According to a statement by the Busoga East Region Police, the accident occurred around 1:00 am at Bukoona on the Iganga-Tirinyi Highway. The collision involved a Toyota V8 driven by Aleper and another vehicle whose details are still unknown since it sped off.
The statement indicated that “Aleper was travelling from the Mbale when his vehicle collided head-on with the unidentified vehicle coming from the Iganga direction. This collision caused Aleper’s vehicle to lose control and veer off the road, resulting in his immediate death.”
