The First Lady of Uganda Janet Kataaha Museveni has called upon christians to adopt a winning strategy in the declared anti corruption war. She said, ‘the NRM government led by H.E. the president YKM  has said, corruption must be fought and crushed”. Corruption appears in all forms and includes dishonesty, lack of accountability, greed and embezzlement, and it has become a big problem in Uganda. This evil has brought a blanket of darkness in our land and it must be dispelled.

Quoting from the bible, she said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way let your light so shine before men …. and glorify your father in heaven. She was represented at the event by the The KCCA Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka.

She reminded the Christians of the war against AIDS / Acquired Immunity Deficiency Syndrome. This was fought during the 1990s using the ABC strategy.  A is Abstain, B is for Be faithful and C is Condom use. The ABC strategy must now be applied in the new AIDS war against corruption, the Acquired Integrity Deficiency Syndrome. Abstain from corruption, Be accountable and Credible. That should be the policy in the war.

The church should take the lead as the light of the world. Both the public and private sector must team up in this war because the public sector workers are not more than 400,000 citizens, therefore the majority of 45.5M are in private sector.

The call was made while addressing hundreds of christians gathered at Deliverance church, Nsambya on Sunday 14th July where the first lady was the guest of honour at the dedication of the Deliverance church headquarters and theological school. She commended the leadership of the church for their patience in construction drawing on their joint resources which brought them to this point of dedication.
She thanked Manish Vashani from Tororo cement who has made a significant contribution to the finishing touches to the construction under their CSR program. Mr Manish Vashani who attended the dedication made a commitment to continue work in supporting the religious institutions “because religion builds discipline”, he said

She also called upon the Christians to engage in wealth creation as the precursor for social economic transformation. “Each one of you should join the money economy” what is it that you can do to earn an income? What service can you give to the nation in your community? What is that you have in your hands? God can use it and multiply it and it will become a blessing to the nation. Do not despise the day of small beginnings, a little becomes much when it is the master’s hands.
