The gunman who opened fire on the crowd at a Donald Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, wounding the former president, killing one rally-goer, and injuring another, has been identified.

The New York Post reported that 20-year-old Pennsylvania man Thomas Matthew Crooks was the gunman who was shot dead by Secret Service agents after opening fire on the crowd. The Post cited anonymous sources. A law enforcement press conference is expected late Saturday night.

Just ten minutes into Trump’s rally, the sound of the shots rang out. Trump grabbed his ear and went down under the cover of Secret Service agents, who kept him under cover for several moments before lifting him up. Trump, bloodied, raised his fist to the crowd and appeared to shout, “Fight!”

Secret Service agents then moved Trump off the stage and into an SUV. Trump was taken to the hospital and quickly released in good condition. He took to Truth Social to express condolences for the rally attendee killed in the shooting.

Videos taken at the rally appeared to show Secret Service snipers firing on the gunman, who was killed on the roof from which he opened fire.

Police confirmed two were killed in the shooting, one a rally-goer and the other the shooter.
