Premier League clubs are ramping up their transfer activity with pre-season now only a couple of weeks away. Arsenal are expected to be busy and are keen on a new striker to edge them closer to the title. The Gunners have been linked with all manner of forwards and reports in Portugal claim they are closing in on a move for Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres. Joshua Kimmich, meanwhile, it said to be a potential midfield signing, as is Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino.
Arsenal have also been linked with Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, though fresh reports from Italy claim Chelsea could now hijack the move. The Blues have already confirmed the signing of Estevao Willian but continue to scour the market for fresh additions and have been handed a potential boost by Napoli, who have reduced the asking price for Victor Osimhen.
Lille’s Leny Yoro is another player Chelsea have previously been keen on, while Manchester United, who are still in talks with Joshua Zirkzee, have also been linked. Jack Harrison spent last term on loan at Everton from Leeds… and he’s going to do it all over again next season.
He said: “It’s brilliant to be back. Everton is a great club, there is a fantastic group of lads here and I’m excited to get started again with a full pre-season of training.
“Last year, I had a lot of enjoyment at the Club. We had to face a lot of adversity but we were able to continue on and have a good season overall.”
Borussia Dortmund push for Archie Gray
Archie Gray is a target for Borussia Dortmund, and the midfielder is said to be open to the move.
The 18-year-old’s contract at Leeds runs through to 2028, but the club’s failure to secure promotion to the Championship has put his future in doubt.
BILD report that Dortmund are trying to convince Gray to join them this summer, with the teenager currently considering his options.
Release clause for Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus could leave West Ham this summer, with it revealed that he has an £85m release clause in his contract.
The 23-year-old shone for the Hammers last season and new boss Julen Lopetegui will be desperate to keep him at the London this summer.
Sky Germany claim that the £85m clause is active this summer, but Kudus has not currently told the club he wants to leave.
Manchester United made to wait over Joshua Zirkzee move
Man United have not yet been able to reach an agreement with Joshua Zirkzee’s representatives.
The club are in pole position to sign the Bologna striker and have made it clear that they will pay his £34m clause.
However, according to the Daily Star, United and Zirkzee’s team are yet to agree a deal in terms of the player’s wage and length of contract. Further talks are planned later this week.
Arsenal ready to make Nico Williams move
Arsenal are prepared to meet Nico Williams’ £49m release clause.
Caught Offside claim that Chelsea are also interested in the Athletic Bilbao winger, and plan to hold further talks with the player’s agent.
But it is suggested that the Gunners are ready to make a decisive move and will pay the release clause, as they attempt to win the race to sign Williams.
Arsenal among clubs in Joshua Kimmich race
Joshua Kimmich is still open to leaving to Bayern Munich this summer.
That’s according to Sky Germany, with it claimed that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the five clubs he would consider.
Speaking on his future last week, Kimmich said: “The situation is absolutely clear. I have a contract with FC Bayern until 2025, so it’s not mainly up to me to be active right now”.
“My focus is solely on the European Championship, and after that there will be a conversation.”
Hours to go for Bruno Guimaraes release clause
Time is running out for clubs to active Bruno Guimaraes’ release clause.
The £100m clause will expire at midnight tonight – after then Newcastle are free to set their on price for the midfielder.
Manchester City and Arsenal have previously been linked with Guimaraes, but it is not expected that a club will make a move before the end of the day.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Newcastle OFF
Newcastle are no longer pursuing a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Magpies had appeared to be in pole position to sign the Everton striker, viewing him as a replacement for Callum Wilson, who reports suggest is likely to leave this summer.
However, according to Sky Sports, Newcastle have pulled out of the race to sign Calvert-Lewin, believing a £40m valuation is too high.
Arsenal want Mikel Merino deal
Arsenal are pushing to sign Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino.
The Gunners are expected to strengthen in midfield this summer and the 28-year-old has emerged as a target, with it believed they are ahead of Barcelona in the race to sign Merino.
Sport claim that Mikel Arteta has already called the Spanish star and the player is keen on the move to north London.
Sociedad are said to be open to selling for a fee in the region of £22m.
Napoli lower Victor Osimhen asking price
Napoli would be willing to accept £85m for striker Victor Osimhen this summer.
It has previously been believed that the Italian club would demand the Nigerian’s release clause to be paid in full, with that fee understood to be around £127m.
However, Calcio Mercato report that the valuation has been lower, with new Napoli boss Antonio Conte keen to raise funds and Romelu Lukaku a key target.
