UPDF offers Free Medical Services to Mbale District Residents

The UPDF Chieftaincy of Medical Services on Thursday extended free medical services to residents of Bufumbo Sub County in Mbale district at Bufumbo Health Centre IV in a three days medical camp.

The medical outreach camp was organized by the UPDF as part of its activities to secure the lives of Ugandans.

The UPDF physician and cardiologist only identified as Dr. John, who is heading this medical team in Mbale district, said they are offering general medicine, free dental and eye care, antenatal services and free Safe Male Circumcision to residents for 3 days until Saturday, 15th June, 2024.

The In charge of  Bufumbo health centre IV, said over 200 individuals have benefited from the free specialized eye care treatment and spectacles were given to those who needed them and other services.

Residents expressed their gratitude and appreciated UPDF medics for their discipline and professionalism.

Meanwhile, the National NRM Chairperson Women League, Lydia Wanyoto Mutende a.k.a “Big Sister”, said the UPDF medical team is also giving other medical services like cancer screening and TB testing in this health centre as they wait for the launch of the maternity ward by the Prime Minister of Uganda Hon. Robinah Nabanja on 18 June 2024.

The UPDF leader of coordination and mobilization commended residents of Bufumbo sub-county (Bungokho North Constituency) for their close association with UPDF that is evidenced by coming in big numbers to get these medical services.

He reminded the residents that UPDF’s origin is deeply rooted in the Elgon Region from people like Wadada Nabudere, Natolo Masaba, Maumbe Mukwana, Kisolo Nakanya (all deceased) and Hon Magode Ikuya (still alive), who formed the nucleus of the people’ struggle that had its bases in the Elgon Region,  who later joined President Yoweri Museveni to restore peace and security.

He added that UPDF is a Peoples’ Army, one that effects peace, democracy, freedom, and social economic transformation on communities based on its tested discipline and professionalism.

The LC III chairperson for Bufumbo sub-county, Ali Munilu Mugamba applauded UPDF for maintaining discipline and securing Uganda.

He also commended the UPDF leadership and medical team for steering the country to great achievements, most especially in the sphere of freedom and infrastructural development.
