Three Remanded for Defrauding Indian 267 Acres of Land in Lwengo

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit in liaison with CID and Office of Director of Public Prosecutions has today, Friday, 14th June, 2024 arraigned before court three suspects for allegedly defrauding an Indian off his 267 acres of land.

The Trio is Masaka based businessman, Dungu Henry Matovu, Masaka MZO ICT Officer Kireri John, and Land Surveyor Onyango Patrick.

They appeared before Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court where they were charged with 24 counts of forgery, uttering false documents, and fraudulent procurement of title.

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the accused individuals are alleged to have forged a land title and imposed it on the pre-existing title of Kulsum Patel, which comprised 267 acres in Lwengo District.

Subsequently, Dungu and others proceeded to subdivide and sell off the land, and later used goons to forcefully evict Patel from the property.

The Court remanded them until 18the June, 2024.
