The trial of five individuals accused of murdering Engineer Daniel Kakeedo Bbosa, the former leader of the Ndiga (Sheep) Clan, will continue on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Mwanga II Court in Kampala. This trial follows the charges brought against them for their alleged involvement in Bbosa’s death.
The accused individuals are Noah Lujja, 21, Harriet Nakiguli, 40, Joseph Nakabale, 47, Ezra Mayanja, 44, and Milly Naluwenda, 46. Naluwenda is the secretary of the Kisekwa Cultural Court of Buganda and lives in the Kitunzi zone 7 in Rubaga Division, Kampala district.
According to the charge sheet, Lujja is a mason from Kabanga village in Mpigi town council. Nakiguli is a peasant from Nkere zone in Kawempe division, while Nakabale is a painter from Gala village in Mpigi Town Council. Mayanja resides in Kiganda zone in Kawempe division, Kampala district.
At the previous court session, Caroline Mpumwire, the State Attorney from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, informed the court that the investigations are still ongoing. Consequently, the Principal Grade One Magistrate, Adams Byarugaba, decided to remand the accused to Luzira Prison until further notice.
The five accused are facing murder charges under sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act Cap 120. If convicted, they could face the maximum penalty of death.
The prosecution alleges that the accused, along with others still at large, unlawfully killed Bbosa with malice aforethought on February 25, 2024, in Kikandwa, Lungujja, Rubaga Division in Kampala district.
In a related development, the police have intensified their search for Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the primary suspect in Bbosa’s murder. Recently, police raided five shrines in the Mukono and Wakiso districts following a tip-off that Tabula had sought refuge there. However, Tabula managed to evade capture after reportedly being warned of the police’s impending arrival.
Sources suggest that Tabula believed he would be protected by traditional spirits in the shrines, but he was surprised when the police continued their pursuit.
Engineer Daniel Kakeedo Bbosa, aged 72 and also the director of Transa Electrical, was tragically shot dead in his car as he approached his home in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja, Rubaga Division. The continuation of this trial aims to bring justice to the case and clarify the circumstances surrounding his death.
