According to reports in Italy, while away on various Koopmeiner-focused scouting missions, the Reds have been thoroughly charmed by his Atalanta teammate Éderson. One particularly romantic account even goes as far as to suggest that Anfield chiefs are ‘bewitched’ by the Brazilian. Bless them.
In fairness, you can understand their infatuation. The midfielder has played 52 times across all competitions for his Italian employers this season, scoring seven goals and assisting one more from a predominantly defensive role in the centre of the park. His exploits have helped guide Atalanta to a top four finish in Serie A this season (and that could become a top three finish if they win their final game of the season against Fiorentina on Sunday), and, of course, a stunning Europa League victory in which they handed Xabi Alonso’s frightening Bayer Leverkusen side a first and only defeat of the campaign.
