BUYENDE: Man, 57, beaten, robbed Shs1.5m by unknown thugs

Buyende, (UG):- The Police in eastern Uganda’s Buyende District are investigating the circumstances under which a 57-year-old man was attacked and robbed of Ug Shs 1.5 million by yet-to-be-identified thugs.

The victim identified as James Mubiru is a resident of Bulindamwiga village, Kidera  Sub-County in Buyende district.

According to preliminary findings, it is alleged that Mubiru was on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at around 02:00 am, attacked, beaten and cut by unknown assailants at his house.

“It is said that the victim had just sold off his cow and it is suspected that the assailants might have targeted the proceeds from the sale. Upon reporting, a case file vide Kidera CRB 059/2024 was opened for inquiries,” Busoga North Police Spokesperson, Mr Michael Kasadha said in a Monday police statement.

 

Mr Kasadha added that following the report, a team of detectives visited the scene, where a sniffer dog was introduced and trucked to the house of Mosoke Ivan alias ABUDU, brother to the victim.

 

However, he was not found at his premises as he was reported to be at Kidera Health Centre IV attending to the victim.

Kasadha said upon learning of the police efforts to have him apprehended, Musoke abandoned the patient at the health facility had switched off his phone before taking off to an unknown location.

Police vowed to track him down as the prime suspect in the robbery case as investigations into the case take centre stage.

“We have begun a serious manhunt of Musoke Ivan to aid in investigating the incident as further investigations go on,” said Kasadha
