MURANG’A, May 26, 2024: The Beyond Zero Initiative provided essential aid to flood victims in Maragua Constituency, Murang’a County yesterday. Residents of Gikono, Kangangu, and Wempa received critical items such as blankets, mattresses, and sanitary towels, providing much-needed relief to the flood-stricken community.
Peris Kamau, a representative of the Beyond Zero Initiative, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations during crises. “We understand the challenges faced by these families and are here to offer material support and a message of hope and solidarity. Our goal is to ensure no one is left behind during such difficult times,” said Kamau.
Dr. Stanley Kamau of Ahadi Kenya Trust, who was present during the distribution, praised Beyond Zero’s efforts and the impact of their intervention. “Beyond Zero’s swift response has alleviated the immediate suffering of the affected families. Their timely donation of essential items demonstrates their dedication to humanitarian aid,” remarked Dr. Kamau.
Area MP Hon. Mary Wamaua also expressed gratitude to Beyond Zero and former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta for their proactive approach. “The support from Beyond Zero and Mrs. Kenyatta has been a lifeline for many of us here. Their immediate action in the face of disaster has provided comfort and hope to many families,” she said.
Beyond Zero also extended their aid to landslide victims in Mukungai village, Kiharu Constituency, where they distributed the same essential items to those affected. This gesture further underscores their commitment to addressing the urgent needs of disaster-stricken communities across the country.
This initiative follows a similar exercise conducted last week in Mathare, where numerous individuals received aid from Beyond Zero. The consistent support from the organization highlights its ongoing mission to provide relief and support to vulnerable communities across Kenya.
Through their sustained efforts, Beyond Zero continues to make a significant impact in the lives of those affected by natural calamities, embodying the spirit of compassion and community solidarity in times of need.
